Village Rehabilitation Worker (VRW)

A group of well-trained outreach volunteers who guarantee the long-term success of CBR activities. As of now, we feature about 13 VRW located in different areas of Karagwe.

Tasks

  • Identifying clients in the local community who are at risk of living with a disability.
  • Assisting families consisting of disabled members, eventually treating them with simple equipment (e.g. prothesen or mobility tools).
  • Giving frequent reports to KCBRP office regarding the condition of these families and suggesting further measures or treatments.
  • Organizing seminars, awareness- or networking-campaigns on grass-roots level. This includes the invitation of local authorities or decision-makers (e.g. politicians, “traditional healers” or doctors from nearby facilities).
